Reflection

I would like to divide my reflection into THREE topics of the course, my blog and my teacher.

Firstly, this course is English for International Trade (Eng-380). The content emphasizes the use of English skills written and spoken English through the global business communication such as presentation, negotiation, meeting, e-mail and etc. Besides, this course covers using English in the world wide in trading, management, business and marketing, this course also urges most students in studying English on the global business communication. The course yields a lot of advantages to us to live in the communication world. Technology in communication developed or changed rapidly, with this course, we can catch up with new choices of communication. In fact, I don’t have business background; I have to try harder to understand what are about business.

Secondly, I would like to tell you I never have knowledge about blog before. When I began to do my blog, I didn’t know what product or what brand to choose and I didn’t know how to design. Consequently, I had to try hard to know what was right or wrong that it took me much time in making the blog. Sometimes, I consulted with my friends because they are more tech-savvy than me. When I had a free time, I always did it by myself. While I did it, I thought “The attempt leads to success.” The moral makes me tolerate and keep fighting in making my blog. After I finished my blog, I think I get many advantages in doing it especially communication with my friends on my blog. I can also use my blog in presenting my work on the global business commutation in the future too.

Lastly, I would like to say happily “THANK YOU VERY MUCH” for my boss or my lovely teacher, Aj.Kob. I think that she is a good, kind, active and confident teacher. Moreover, she understands every student in studying and doing many activities. Importantly, I like her teaching strategy that encourages students and focus on students’ center. Aj. Kob motivated students to learn English by taking teaching aid such as videos and songs. As a result, every student pays attention and doing activities with his or her full effort. However, I more like studying in this course; I hope other teachers teach like the teacher of this course does. Specially, I feel fun, excited and happy with studying in this course. I think students will succeed in their studying or not depends partly on the teacher too.

Promotion Strategy--Example of Advertising Commercials


The video shows when 3 presenters drink BRAND'S Veta Prune Essence, they will have beautiful, white, clear skin and slim body. Moreover, they are confident to wear their clothes, they dare to walk pass many men confidently. BRAND'S Veta Prune Essence contains prebiotics as well as fibre for promoting a digestive system and Vitamin C; it also contains antioxidants protecting cells from damaging in the body.


This video presents that 3 presenters are so confident in their beautiful and slim bodies and they are also fresh and vigorous when they drink BRAND'S Veta Prune Essence too. At the end of the video, it has a slogan "Drink Veta Prune and go to bed" that it can motivate consumers very well.

Promotion Strategy--Example of Advertising Compaigns


The advertisement of BRAND'S Veta Prune Essence urged consumers to join the activity "Veta the Purple Stage for Blythe”. The activity was a photo competing activity of 3 people in a girl gang. Participants had to send the picture of 3 people in a girl gang and describe why they chose the picture. The winner got a Blythe of 39,000 baht. However, the activity had 19 teams join the activity.

The advertisement of BRAND'S Veta Prune Essence showed dominant product and it encouraged consumers who have beautiful fresh and clear skin, face and slim body to join the activity "Veta VJ Angels". Moreover, Participants got about 100,000 baht and they also got BRAND'S Veta Prune Essence free for 1 year. The activity had many consumers who joined and the activity drew high income too.

Journal# 6 (It was a happy time)

On 29 June,2010,when every student arrived in the classroom, Aj.Kob assigned every student to cover the answers of Business Grammar l and then she assigned to write 12 polite sentences. Next, we shared the ideas why everybody wrote differently. Specially, Aj.Kob told that there would be a quiz for the exercise the week after. That day, Aj.Kob talked about Mid-term exam and she repeated the details of Victoria's Secret,What is the Business?, Careers in Business, The Four P'S and The target Market. I think I understood the details more and more. Besides, Aj.Kob allowed us to take our own details in the exam class, she assigned us to make sure of our own details or information about our own brands.

On 1 July, 2010, when I arrived my classroom, I saw every student got dressed and prepared various equipments for the presentation of each group. And then Aj.Kob asked one from each group to pick up an order of the presentation. For my group, we were the last group to present. The first to the fifth group presented fluently. They had prepared both equipments and dresses very well. I think they presented the welcoming and cultures formally. After that it was the time of my group's presentation. We were very excited but happy in that presentation and we performed each character extremely and I think every member satisfied with that presentation. At the end of the class, Aj.Kob invited each group to take a photo for each group had performed a good job and everybody was so happy and had fun in that activity.

Journal# 5 (Talk about the Online Blog Evaluation)

On 22th June,2010, when I arrived my classroom, Aj.Kob showed the video about English language. Then, she assigned the students a piece of writing about the impact of their presentations in the previous period within 5 minutes. Aj.Kob talked about Mid-term exam that will be on 8th July,2010 about "Victoria's Secret and What is business?". Next, she introduced us to a professional E-mail writing and the impact of presentation. That day, Aj.Kob criticized the presentation of every group that every group was pleased with the point. Finally, she talked about the Final project' agenda and she introduced the principle of design especially balance, rhythm,proportion, dominance and unity.

On 24th June,2010, Aj.Kob repeated about the final project's agenda and she assigned us to prepare the speech about our brands within 3 minutes and she assigned other brands about 5 blogs. Importantly, she told that the course will end on 10th August, 2010 and she talked about the design evaluation specially color, white space, font, focus, unity, balance and etc. However, Aj.Kob showed the example of my friends'blogs to criticize and talked about the critirion of the blog evaluation. I saw various features of various blogs which I can take as my examples to improve my online blog. That day, Aj.Kob assigned the new presentation about greeting culture and a welcoming dinner, lunch and information. Moreover, everybody was happy and had fun in preparing the new presentation.

Nowadays, a number of consumers don't take care of their health. We observe that consumers die in their early age because they consume unhealthful foods especially fast foods. I think that we should take more care of our health. Importantly, there are many brands of supplement health foods such as BRAND'S, PEPTIEN and etc. BRAND'S is regarded as the best and popular supplement health products. In the present day, BRAND'S has earned the highest total sales every year. BRAND'S company has many policies such as Value, Quality, Energy, Environment, Occupational health and Safety policy to requite the consumers and society. Now, BRAND'S is leading the biggest center of producing and exporting healthy beverages in Europe. However, BRAND'S expands around the world especially Asia Pacific such as Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, Australia and New Zealand. Moreover, BRAND'S products get the best reward for the international standard in the nation and abroad for more than 170 years. Besides, BRAND'S will pay gratitude to the consumers by arranging activities such as BRAND'S Summer Camp, BRAND'S Grade a Freshy Power with Tor, BRAND'S Brain International Challenge, BRAND'S Gen and etc. Importantly, the consumers are impressed and happy with all activities.

For me, I am a consumer that consumes BRAND'S products especially BRAND'S Veta Prune Essence and Cherry Essence and etc. I believe that these products have many nutrients. When I am tired, I usually drink BRAND'S products that make me fresh and vigorous. In the present day, I trust in BRAND'S products more and more especially for the quality control and the standard of the producing process.

What did I learn from the Victoria's Secret?


"The identity in itself is very important in business community."

Victoria's Secret, being a gigantic line of women's products, generated much in the business community. Importantly, they were designed to be more sexy, domunant and glamorous than other products especially in style, price and unique. Moreover, Victoria's Secret showed an art in itself.

However, Victoria's Secret wasn't the first famous products in the past; it had many competitors of women's products. It began advertising the catalogue on the website, it still lunched
www.VictoriesSecret.com on the website nowadays. Importantly, there were 2 goals on the new media; to strengthen and support the Victoria's Secret brand and to exceed sales goals. Victoria's Secret had managed FASHION SHOW in New York. There were many consumers, business people and designers attended the fashion show and it made the brand more popular. The supermodels, tall, slim, beautiful, enhanced the products such as bras, clothes, swimming suits, shoes and etc., and the products were more attractive to buy. After that Victoria's Secret expanded the advertisement to TV spots, Internet banner ads and print ads in major newspaper. All of Victoria's Secret medias got the best prize and Victoria's Secret became the top of women's products.

My view as consumers, when I see Victoria's Secret products, I want to buy them so much because they are beautiful, interesting, colorful and prominent products. Furthermore, there are several high quality and products to serve customers'demand.

I think this performance showed very luxurious,dominent and identical because there were supermodels to present products. My Journal#4 (Know about Product Strategy)

On June, 15, 2009, Aj. Kob talked about Marketing strategy(4ps) such as product, promotion, price and place. I think that I quite understood the details. And then she introduced the product manager, Phillip Kotler, who told about Create customer value, Positioning (Price,quality, image, service,design, style) and Branding(Promise, brand value,slogan, logo). Importantly, he divided each steps as Create value, Communicate value and Deliver value. Finally, Phillip Kotler told that "If you nail positioning and targeting, the rest falls into place." Moreover, Aj.Kob assigned everybody thought the own brand values." Aj.Kob assigned everybody to think of his or her own brand value.

For the final period of the class, Aj.Kob assigned the Improptu job interview of a group of 5. Specially, 3 people are interviewers (HRP VP, HRM Manager and Marketing Manager) and 2 people are applicants. For my group, Gift, Nut and I were a interviewers while Mo and Boom were applicants. My members discussed for an interesting program to perform. We finally decided on the LUK 666. I am eager to see the program. That day, everybody was very happy and fun that Aj. Kob assigned this work.

On June,17,2010, every group presented the Improptu job. Before, I walked my classroom; I saw Aj.Kob lived in the classroom. And then she assigned everybody to arrange many chairs to be a circle. Suddently, Boom called for Nut and told that " I am so sick because of my inflamed bladder and I can't study" so my group consulted with Aj.Kob. At the beginning, Aj.Kob gave every group to pick up the number of presentation. My group was the first group but my members had to give Champ's group to be the first group in presentation. Importantly,my members was very serious and worried about the presentation so my group had to plan my new presentation unexpectedly and my group decided Mo was an applicant and Gift, Nut and I were interviewers (Keep fighting). As soon as my group presented, we was so excited. However, my group could solve the urgent problem well, we felt so relieved from presentation. That day, each group had different presentation. Moreover, I understood the real interview that it will be very difficult and afraid. Specially, every student and Aj.Kob was more happy, fun and impressed in doing the activity.

On 8th June,2010, I would like to say I was VERY tired and exhausted because of doing a lot of assignments. When I arrived my classroom, the temperature in the room was very cold and it was quiet. Aj.kob turned to me and she smiled to me. She started to talk about the assignment. First, She assigned every group to present a summary of Intimate Apparel Market and Brand and Positioning of Victoria's Secret. Then each group summaried Victoria's secret with different ideas, I learnt more about Victoria's Secret. After that Aj. Kob assigned the first reflection of Victoria's Secret on the website and in the article.

On 10th June,2010, I am VERY VERY VERY active and happy to learn this course because I started to allocate in learning very well. That day, my lovely teacher, Aj.Kob, explained about Business Project as Aims, Contents, Presentation format, Ducument needed, Evaluation criteria and Schedule. Importantly,Aj.Kob devided 50% of blog evaluation into 3 parts as Blog 30%, Presentation 10% and Journal 10%. And then she talked about business strategy in doing online blog. I thought I had some business background from my previous course that I applied for the online blog. One important thing in that day, Aj.Kob talked about our writing skill which was considered ungrammartical. Besides, she listed the ungrammartical parts from our writings. For me, I am not serious and worried about English grammar because I have some basic knowledge. Especially, I like writting skills more than other skills. That day, I felt so active doing the online blog and I understood the business project more and more.

My Journal#2 (Begin to understand Business.)

On 1st June, 2009, I was very happy when I walked to my class. Specially, I saw Aj.Kob , being an active, confident and enthusiastic taeacher in business teaching, taking her big bag and smiling to everybody. Importantly, she looked very very happy and she talked about Tips for Success in this course such as Discipline, Passion, Hardworking, Positive and Creative. Moreover, she taught about Business Basic/Mode and Terms of Business. That day, my members had a special time to think about Brand Names and Non-Brand Names. Especially, every group presented the products that members wore or carried today. For my group, my friends chose me to present the products. That day, everybody and Aj.Kob were so joyful and funny.

On 3th June,2oo9, I arrived my class room. I saw Aj.Kob was very excited to do something with my friends. She begged some friends to be a presenter of their own interested products and then she told everybody that it's a special show that day(Fashion Show). I observed everybody being pleased with the activity. And then she talked about "What are Really in women's bag?" such as Beauty, Hope, Prestige and etc. Lastly, she taught about FIVE steps of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.

My Journal#1 (It's Time to Learn Business. )

On 25th May, 2010, there was no class but Aj. Kob assigned to meet her room for taking the courese sysllabus and pretest survey. However, I didn't come to her office.

On 27th May,2010, this was the first day for me to learn Eng-380 (English for International Trade) and it was the first meeting for Aj.Kob and my friends in this semester. Importantly, this was the last semester that I studied at WU.

efore I registered this course, I was very worried and afraid of studying this course because my minor is English. Specially, I didn't have business background; I think that I didn't understand business much. Although, I studied Writing in Business Context course(Eng-279)with Aj.David and Seminar in Business Writing(Eng-476) with Aj.Kob. I think these 2 subjects may relate to this course. At least, I got some basic business knowlede from these subjects. However,I knew from my friends that my teacher assigned students to design the online blog that it made me very anxious and worried about the assignment because I had no experience about the online blog.

hen the class began, Aj.Kob introduced herself and described Course description, Goals, Format, Evaluation and etc. I knew the course outline clearly. And then she taught about business mode as context/knowledge(content), discourse/(language), manner, pragmatic and project based. At the end of the period, Aj.Kob assigned to read Victoria's Secret and find blog templetes.
